*Visual Style

1. Depending if you have SP1 installed or not, download and install VistaGlazz (used for patching system files so you can use the theme). There are currently 2 versions of VistaGlazz (one for Service Pack 1 installed and one for Service Pack 1 not installed) so make sure you get the right one. Run VistaGlazz and click the far left icon to start the patching process. You will need to reboot.

2. After reboot copy the folder "ProjectX 2" into C:\Windows\Resources\Themes. When you look inside the themes folder after copying, you should see an "Aero" folder and "ProjectX 2" folder.

3. Right click your desktop and choose "Personalize". Choose the first option, "Window Color and Appearance". Towards the bottom, click "Open classic appearance properties for more color options". In the small window that pops up, there will be two "Windows Aero" options. ProjectX2 is one of those options, so click each one and apply until the style changes to ProjectX 2.

*System Files

1. Be warned that these files are for use only on Vista with Service Pack 1 (SP1) installed.

2. Turn off User Account Control. You can do this by going to the Control Panel and going to User Account options. Vista will ask you to restart when you turn it off.

3. Search Google for "installtakeownership.reg"
without quotation marks. Choose the first result. Download and install the file that is on that page per the instructions.

4. Go to C:\Windows\System32 folder. Find "browseui.dll". Right click "browseui.dll" and choose "Take Ownership". Rename "browseui.dll" to "browseui.dll.bak" without quotation marks. Now copy the browseui.dll file that I provided into this folder. Do the same thing for "shell32.dll".

5. You will need to restart your computer to see all the changes.


--ONE MORE THING! When you apply this visual style set the color to "Graphite" and set the color intensity to about 10%.
